  • No idea if this is a re release of the Paramount DVD, but if not..

    http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Alvin-DVDs-BDs-Announced/20503

I don't even know what to say; this news is too darn awesome. I doubt it's a re release though; it's really hard to contain my excitement right now.. it's only 74 minutes (as of now), but still... this could be the start of more DVD releases. :D

    • Oh my! I don't think this would be a re-release. I sure hope they wouldn't shatter us by releasing the DVD again. This will definately be something we will need to watch closely. 74 minutes is a decent number of segments though (I have a feeling they wouldn't be the original episodes as with the "first" episode that was released earlier).

    • Whatever the case, I'm super glad that The Alvin Show is still noticed by Badgasarian Productions and the company who releases their DVDs.

    • I was going to wait on creating the page to make sure this wasn't going to fall through. Since it's already created I want to make clear that all edits to the new page must be referenced to a reliable source (news sites, Amazon, iTunes). I know the franchise is one of the worst in terms of rumors and incorrect information so unsourced/incorrectly sources edits will be removed.

    • Yeah, we may not get any news on this DVD for a month or two. They might wait until 2015 to say anything at all, but I will be on top of Google for any news. I used to search "The Alvin Show" twice a day or more to make sure nothing new popped up, so I might do that again.

This description sounds disappointing as it includes three of the segments from the first release. Ostrich is included though. I seriously hope there's more.

    • I'm loving the redone artwork on that Facebook post! Something about it looks really nice; I can't explain it. It also says,

"This special edition also features The Chipmunks hit songs, Witch Doctor as well as their Christmas perennial, The Chipmunk Song."

So we know those 2 will be on the DVD, which I was actually hoping for. With all the titles listed, the runtime would only be around 27 minutes. I really doubt they are going to add A Chipmunk Reunion and Rockin' Through the Decades on the release; they will probably re-release those on a different disc, with other 80's episodes. Even if this includes 3 segments from the first release, I'm still buying it, without a doubt. The DVDs usually run about 60-75 minutes (from what I remember), so we will either get more of The Alvin Show, or 80's episodes. Considering they are labeling it a "special edition", I'm kinda doubting 80's episodes. No offense, but we have seen enough of those already. I'm also wondering if they are including 3 segments from the first release because this time, it's coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray; even if you already own The Very First Alvin Show, I would still get this release; if it sells well, there's a possibility for more releases.

I hope it gives us more 60's segments. No 80's episodes.

That is actually a screenshot from a documentary made around the release of Chipwrecked. It included a few seconds of the segment. However, I don't have doubts that the segment will look as good as that on the upcoming March release.

    • Well, Most likey if they relase this DVD and everyone buys it, then they will relese more episodes.

    • I noticed a couple days ago that Amazon removed the blu-ray option from it's preorders indicating the release might not be available for blu-ray as original planned. Additionally, they say the DVD will include three episodes (they likely mean just the Chipmunk episode segments) and "Witch Doctor" and "The Chipmunks Song." So combined with what was provided on the official Facebook there it only one episode segment we do not yet know about (maybe Squares?) unless they mean full episodes then there is still a number of musical segments in the toss up. There is 35 minutes (74 total) with the seven segments we know about. Hopefully the rest isn't filled with 80s specials but probably will unless they include Clyde segments as well.

    • Amazon has released a higher quality copy of the cover we have now; also, the Blu-Ray and DVD covers are slightly different. Both covers can be seen below. Walmart has also added the combo pack to their website. Their listing says that the audio will be "DTS-HD Master Audio", although it will probably be stereo audio; surround sound wouldn't make much sense to include, but if it's included, it's still a great addition. It also says English closed captions will be included. On our wiki page, it says the DVD will include "Overworked Alvin".. where was that said? I haven't heard anything about that.

    • Okay, so they are still releasing it in blu-ray too. Amazon had a pre-order for the blu-ray combo pack but removed it so I was under the impression they changed their mind on the blu-ray release. As for Overworked Alvin, this was stated on the official Facebook page in a reply to the DVD artwork.

Edit: I replaced the old cover with the new one.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah, now I see where Overworked Alvin was posted. Well, we at least know which Alvin cartoons will be on the disc; I have no idea if Clyde is going to be on the disc, but I'm hopeful at least one Clyde segment is included. Honestly, the only disappointment about this disc (for me anyway) is the low running time. There is so much of this show they could release without any trouble. Then again, Capitol still owns the rights to the original Badgasarian tracks, so I'm not sure who owns the rights to use the songs for The Alvin Show. Hopefully, high sales will convince Badgasarian to release more of the show.

The Clyde segments are pretty funny. They should definitely release at least one segment.

    • The Alvin and the Chipmunks Facebook page posted about the DVD again; no new information is included (as of this post), but it does include a photo that's somewhat strange. It looks like an animation cel, but missing some of the layers; or maybe it was redrawn to look like a certain frame in the music segment? I haven't seen this segment in a while, so I'll check it out in further detail later today or tomorrow.

      Edit: Image here.

    • Alvin in I Wish I Could Speak French
The colors look off compared to this image. Her face is much darker and her dress at the shoulders is not even close. I'm pretty sure this is the same girl.

    • It seems like the colors on your photo are off; I'm kinda curious where you got that screenshot.. this is what I have from The Very First Alvin Show. It's not exactly the same frame, but it's the same scene.

        Loading editor
    • The image I posted was from before the first DVD release from a video I watched online. Even if the image I posted is "wrong," the difference between The Very First Alvin Show screenshot and the one that supposedly is from the new release is very noticeable. Either the new one is wrong or the consistency between releases is terrible.

    • I have The Valentine's Collection, which has I Wish I Could Speak French on it. I'll go check that one; I don't remember if it's any different on there.

    • It seems that The Valentine's Collection looks a little better, but the colors are the same as The Very First Alvin Show (other than being a little more saturated here). There is more video on the left and right on The Valentine's Collection. You are saying your screenshot is from before the 2009 DVD?

I'm doubting that's a real (legal) release. Additionally, it states 27 episodes.

        Loading editor
    • There is no way it's an official release. Some of my episodes came from that set; someone else had it, and sent me the first disc.  They didn't send me discs 2-4 though. I wouldn't be against buying that, unless Badgasarian announces a complete series set; my episodes that I got from that set were from Nick, and with some cleaning up, the quality is pretty good. If I even have the money, I'll pick it up. Sadly, I'm doubting I'll have the money.

    • I have a strong feeling that Alvin For President will be included on the new DVD; it was already released in high quality on the official Chipmunks site (it's gone now, but I have the original flv ripped from the site). I'd love to see The Alvin Twist as well, but we'll have to wait and see on that.

It was up for a while after they created a new site with a different URL.

    • So I bought the DVD, and... wow. Its just so fantastic. Even though 1 episode was a re-release, its still totally worth it for the new episodes. The quality is stunning.. I haven't found any issues yet. For the price of $10 (DVD only), its a steal. I think the best part is that the transitions are included.  (A lot of which have never been on DVD before) This isn't a bare bones release, like  i was afraid it would be. Theses episode look 100% uncut...  except one thing. The credits seem to be nowhere on the disc, but thats not an issue for me.
