Lyrics
Dave:
It's that time of year again.
The Chipmunks:
It's that time of year again
Dave:
Christmas time is here again.
The Chipmunks:
Christmas time is here again
Dave:
Presents and stockings appear by the score.
The Chipmunks:
Presents and stockings appear by the score
Dave:
Carolers at the door.
Alvin:
I sure hope Dave's got more!
Dave:
Alvin.
Cookies, nuts and candy cane.
The Chipmunks:
Cookies, nuts and candy cane
Dave:
Candles in the window pane.
The Chipmunks:
Candles in the window pane
Dave:
Remembering each reindeer's name.
Alvin:
Lots more presents with my name!
Dave:
And feeling the joy inside!
The Chipmunks:
And feeling the joy inside
Dave:
That's the spirit of Christmas.
The Chipmunks:
That's the spirit of Christmas
Dave:
Let it live in your heart.
The Chipmunks:
Let it live in your heart
Dave:
That's much better, Alvin, now keep it up.
Or you won't get any presents in your stocking.
Alvin:
No presents?!
Dave:
If we could only find a way.
The Chipmunks:
If we could only find a way
Dave:
To make it Christmas everyday.
The Chipmunks:
To make it Christmas everyday
Dave:
Keep the spirit strong and true.
The Chipmunks:
Keep the spirit strong and true
Dave:
And all of the love.
The Chipmunks:
And all of the love
Dave:
This season's made of.
The Chipmunks:
This season's made of
Dave:
Will last us the whole year through.
The Chipmunks:
Will last us the whole year through
Alvin:
Oh, Dave, I sang all the right words!
Santa Claus:
Just then, the phone rang.
Theodore:
And you'll never guess who was on the phone!
Santa Claus:
Carnegie Hall?
Simon:
Yep, and they wanted Alvin to play a harmonica solo on Christmas Eve!
Santa Claus:
But he couldn't, because he'd already given his harmonica to Tommy.
Alvin:
But Dave didn't know that.
Santa Claus:
And Alvin had to figure out a way to make enough money to buy a new, echo harmonica.
Uhh, Alvin, why didn't you just tell Dave that you had given your harmonica to Tommy?
And that you needed money to buy a new one for Carnegie Hall?
Alvin:
Because Dave gave me that harmonica when I was very little.
I was afraid he'd be mad at me.
Simon:
Well, the truth sure could have saved us a lot of trouble, Alvin!
Theodore:
Yeah, and remember, we had to put horns on all those dogs!
Santa Claus:
Oh-ho-ho-ho, what a sight!
Alvin dressed up as Santa Claus, with Simon and Theodore as his little elves, rounded up all the neighborhood dogs, tied to them to a homemade sleigh, and for one dollar, kids could have their pictures taken with Santa and his reindeer! How ingenious!
I got a real laugh out of that one, oh-ho-ho-ho-ho!
Alvin:
Well, Dave didn't think it was so funny!
Santa Claus:
Well, of course he didn't.
Dave thought Alvin had lost the spirit of Christmas.
Christmas was a time for giving and sharing, not making money.
Dave was very upset and sent the boys straight to bed!
Theodore:
Yeah, without dessert!
Simon:
As I recall, Theodore, you had some chocolate hidden under your bed!
Theodore:
But I wanted to save it!
Simon:
You could have fooled me, guess how many chocolate bars he ate that night, Santa?
Santa Claus:
Two?
Simon:
Not even close.
Theodore:
Be quiet, Simon.
Santa Claus:
Four?
Simon:
Keep going.
Santa Claus:
Theodore!
Theodore:
I couldn't help it!
Santa Claus:
Five?
Alvin:
Santa, the story?
Santa Claus:
Oh, yes, that's right. Where were we?
Alvin:
Dave said he was very disappointed in me. I couldn't get to sleep.
Theodore:
So we sang him to sleep.
