The Chipmunks is the changed name of the show Alvin and the Chipmunks for seasons 6 and 7 as a result of The Chipettes becoming main characters. The show is an American animated television series featuring the singing characters The Chipmunks and The Chipettes. The series was produced by Bagdasarian Productions in association with DIC Entertainment (1988-1990) and Murakami-Wolf-Swenson (1988) as well as distributors Nelvana Limited (1991-1994), CINAR (1994-1996), and HIT Enterainment PLC (1996-1999).
In 1990, the show once again switched titles. The series picked up its new name, The Chipmunks Go to the Movies, becoming the eighth and final season of the 80s series.
