David Seville-The Bird on My Head

"The Bird on My Head" is an original song performed by David Seville, featuring a bird released as a single in 1958. This was the second song performed before the creation of The Chipmunks that used the sped up voice technique which, was used for the part of the bird.

Lyrics

David:
I'm just sittin' in a vacant lot with a bird sittin' on my head
I'm just sittin' in a vacant lot with a bird sittin' on my head

Wicked, wicked, cruel, cruel world
What have you done to me?
I belong in someone's arms

Bird:
And I belong in a tree

David:
Wicked, wicked, cruel, cruel world
This is no kind of life
I should have a house and bed

Bird:
And I should have me a wife

David:
We're just sittin' in a vacant lot and we haven't got a dime
The bird and me, lonely as can be, we're together all the time

Wicked, wicked, cruel, cruel world
What have you done to me?
I belong in someone's arms

Bird:
And I belong in a tree

David:
Wicked, wicked, cruel, cruel world
What I say is no lie
We've been sittin' here so long

Bird:
That I forgot how to fly

David:
I'm just sittin' in a vacant lot

Bird:
And I'm sittin' on his head

David & Bird:
The things we want we haven't got need a tree and house and bed

Wicked, wicked, cruel, cruel world
What have you done to me?

Bird:
He belongs in someone's arms

David:
And he belongs in a tree

David & Bird:
Wicked, wicked, cruel, cruel world
This is no kind of life

Bird:
He should have a house and bed

David:
And he should have him a wife

David & Bird:
Wicked, wicked, cruel, cruel world
What have you done to me?

David:
I belong in someone's arms

Bird:
And I belong in a tree
