Snake Charmer is an episode of the ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks series.

Synopsis[]

Alvin and Simon create a fake snake to help Dave get over his fear of snakes.[1]

Plot[]

A guy from the Reptilian Center shows a snake named Rosie. He tells the class that one lucky student will take care of her for a week prior to the trip to the Reptilian Center. Miss Smith chooses Simon, much to Alvin's worry because Dave has a paralyzing fear of snakes. After the bell rings, Dave walks into the classroom to pick up The Chipmunks, only to be pressured by Miss Smith to be a parent volunteer for the field trip. At home, Dave finds out Simon has a snake and pretends to play it cool. At dinner, Dave confesses he was bitten by a snake while denying he's afraid of snakes. Alvin, knowing Dave's intentions, throws spaghetti at him claiming it's a snake, causing him to scream. Later on, Alvin reveals to Simon he put Rosie in Dave's bed to prove again about Dave lying about him not being afraid of snakes and the fact that when Dave volunteers at the Reptilian Center, Dave will humiliate them. Simon devises a possible solution by creating a harmless electronic snake that can perform tricks. He believes that if Dave thinks that he can control a snake, he won't be afraid of it. When Dave bonds with the robotic Rosie and wants to teach her new tricks, Simon has to keep up with improving her. Meanwhile, Alvin sneaks the real Rosie to have Dave face his fear. Later, Miles from the Reptilian Center calls, expressing disbelief once Dave proclaims he taught Rosie tricks and asks to see for himself. The boys find a note about Dave going to the center and Alvin and Simon rush to beat him there in the Munk-Mobile to explain the situation to Miles. After another real snake bites the fake Rosie, The Chipmunks, The Chipettes, and Dave hold a funeral for her. Dave admits he feels humiliated and Theodore explains to Dave that he isn't volunteering at the Reptilian Center. Despite all of this, Dave is still frightened of snakes. Alvin decides to bring the real Rosie close to Dave, much to Dave's dismay.

  • Goof: Janice Karman was credited for directing the episode twice: before and after the title card.
  • Simon's Munk-Mobile from Munk Man makes a return appearance in this episode.
  • Also, the doctor first seen in The Tree House makes another appearance.
  • It is revealed Dave has ophidiophobia or ophiophobia, meaning fear of snakes.
  • The chore list from the premiere episode, Talking Teddy, makes a reappearance with the same 'x' marks as before.
  • Most of the stickers/magnets on the refrigerator are the same as the stickers Alvin sticks to his belly fur in Safety Third.
  • This is the first U.S. ALVINNN!!! episode to air on a weekend morning instead of a weekday afternoon.
  • This episode was paired with a new episode, Blabber Mouth (which would've been released a month later following its sister episode pair, Summer Camp), for its U.S. premiere, the first time Nick has done so since the pairing of I Will Survive and Alvin's Got A Brand New Bag.
  • When this episode premiered in the U.S., it was originally going to air with a rerun of Knights.
