Goin’ Down to Dixie is an episode of the Alvin and the Chipmunks series.
Plot[]
The Chipettes are excited to get an opportunity to star at the River Ritz Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. Miss Miller is more rushed than normal and she leaves the girls on the sidewalk before realizing she forgot them. She also realizes she forgot to buy tickets and cannot get tickets on a full flight to New Orleans. Their only chance is through a sleazy man who grossly exaggerates his cut-rate travel service. Their travel arrangements included a private jet, horse-back riding, and a first-class train. In reality, they get a small cargo plane, mules, and an old train that requires the girls to shovel coal into the firebox. When the train runs out of coal, the group is forced to take a wooden raft which soon breaks forcing them to take a small boat. They end up caught in the paddle of a riverboat and thrown on deck. A sailor demands their tickets, which the girls have none. The sailor sends them to the scullery to do the dishes to earn their fare. Meanwhile, a man is worried why the Chipettes have not appeared. The girls are surprised this man has identified them, when he says he is the manager of the River Ritz Hotel, which is the America's only floating hotel. Glad to be in the right place, the Chipettes perform as agreed.
