Dave looks under the table and sees the Chipmunks, as well as Cookie, who had been hiding inside Theodore's shirt. Roxanne is impressed at the sight of the little cat, and Dave decides to let the Chipmunks keep him. The next day, Dave brings in a collar for Cookie. Later, Theodore gives Cookie a bath, while Simon tries to find a cure for Dave's allergies and Alvin cleans out Cookie's litter box. Simon eventually cures Dave's allergies, and Dave is no longer allergic to cats. That night, Simon makes Cookie a little bed small enough for him. The Chipmunks all soon fall asleep. Cookie notices a fly by the window and tries to kill it, but then falls out the window. Early the next morning, a man stops by with Cookie's collar, and apologizes for an incident that happened a little while ago. His car hit Cookie. Dave closes the door, very upset at Cookie's death. The Chipmunks are devastated. Outside, Theodore looks around the neighborhood for Cookie Chomper, still thinking he's not dead. But Dave tries to reason with him. Alvin, very upset, removes every bit of livestock from the house, but Dave stops him, telling him that death is a natural part of life. But Alvin doesn't believe it's part of his own life. Later, Dave tries to cheer Simon up by taking him to the Modern Art Museum, helping him with a science project Simon had been pestering him about, and watching an astronomy special on T.V. with him, but Simon passes on all 3. Later on, Theodore cries on his bed, thinking that it's his fault, because he didn't make sure all the windows were locked. Simon, trying to comfort his little brother, admits that it's his fault, making Cookie sleep in that stupid bed he made when he wanted to sleep with Theodore. But Alvin admits that he took his stuffed bear from him and put it by the window, thus leading Cookie to try and get it and fall out. All 3 shed tears of sorrow. Dave comforts the 3 brothers, and tells them that it's nobody's fault. The Chipmunks all miss Cookie Chomper III very badly. They all reminisce the earlier times they shared with Cookie Chomper, like a gum incident, dinner with Roxanne, and many others. Later that day, Dave takes the Chipmunks to the animal shelter to get a new pet. Although they won't be the same as Cookie Chomper III, Theodore selects one of the puppies, which tickles him wildly. Alvin and Dave agree. But Simon is still upset and decides to wait outside. But the puppy tugs on Simon's right shoelaces, causing him to trip. Alvin and Theodore laugh. Simon thinks of the puppy as sloppy, but adorable. The puppy licks him, and the gang takes her home. But suddenly, Dave sneezes again. Simon tries to cure his allergy by using the same remedy he used on him earlier, but Dave refuses. |
