I'm not going to even review "Oh My Love" and "Geronimo" because, honestly, they shouldn't even be there in their current form. Removing these two, the soundtrack is very short for a feature film (I'm guessing that means more time will be spent on plot, which is okay I guess).
This seems to be a strange soundtrack to me. "Iko Iko" - I just don't know what to say about it, not for me. The big hits, "Juicy Wiggle" and "Uptown Funk," don't jive with me much (much more so with "Juicy Wiggle"). "Turn Down For What" - whatever. I see why they include it, but tracks that repeat the same line or two over and over for most of the song annoy me (reminds me of an ALVINNN!!! song? can't remember the name, but hence my point).
"Conga," though sortof a rerelease, is different. It's the full song and it's covered by the boys this time. I still haven't yet heard it in full yet.
"South Side" and "Home" are the only ones I've bought so far, though I don't know why they removed stanzas from "South Side" (irritating after I bought it). I was greatly looking forward to "Home." The lyrics in the previous clip were (and still are) great. I heard the preview yesterday on the forum and my excitement dropped. The song could have been much better without the (random) techno at the end of the chorus.
Overall, there isn't one song I don't have problems with (well, maybe "Conga"). I'd say the worst CGI soundtrack that's been released.
Edit: I'd rank the songs as follows:
1. "Conga"
2. "Home"
3. "South Side"
|
4. "Uptown Funk"
5. "Juicy Wiggle"
|
6. "Turned Down For What"
7. "Iko Iko"

Again, "Oh My Love" and "Geronimo" don't deserve to be in this discussion.
