Wow, it's been nearly a year and a half since I've written a blog, but this topic is one that's been on my mind many times and many times I almost wrote something about them. All the time I see fans or ordinary people state something about the Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise or characters that causes me and other fans to just shake our heads. Usually this misconceptions aren't made on purpose though they become a rolling theme for those fans that are extensively involved in all aspects of the franchise. The following are some of the most common claims made about Alvin and the Chipmunks.
This question I see, and have replied to, so many times. While an official explanation of the name is unknown, a little bit of reasoning makes this naming…
The Munkapedia Statistical Report is an annual report, released by Munkapedia's administration, documenting stats about the activity of the wiki for community discussion in hopes of establishing long-term trends to better show where there is strength and where there is need for improvement. Our first report was released two years ago containing a few areas of interest. In our second report, these areas were expanded to include five new charts, one of which utilizes some of the 2014-2015 year's data. Over the last year, one additional chart was added comparing this year to the original report.
This report will be the final annual release of statistical data.

Multiple times in the past I've considered creating this blog for all the former users who wished to help with song pages but were unsure about how to construct them. Today I'm going to finally go over the important aspects of song pages for everyone so any confusion can be cleared and obstacles blocking editing of these pages can be lifted. The basic structure of these pages will be first outlined before editing technicalities and singer attribution are discussed.

Deciding to edit on Fandom for the first time can be daunting. Questions such as "how do I edit?," "what can I edit?," or "will I get in trouble for editing?" are a few that might roll through the mind of a potential editor. This blog hopes to address some of these questions as well as give tips (most of which are specific to Munkapedia) that might just help make one's initial edits smooth sailing.
- 1 Background
- 2 What are Fandom's editors?
- 3 What are the wiki's policies?
- 4 Where can I find helpful resources?
- 5 Get to know the wiki

In January I posted a blog outlining two new moderator positions Wikia created and some concerns with implementing such positions on the wiki. With some feedback from the community, interest clearly exists and a general road map for policy changes for the Council and the wiki in general was created. The following is a draft of more specific proposed updates to Site Policy with the goal of regulating the promotion of the Discussion and Content Moderator positions to users with Admin potential.
Additions are made in red, removals are crossed out, and comments are made in green.
- 1 User Rights
- 1.1 New Users
- 1.2 Rollback
- 1.3 Discussion/Content Moderators
- 1.4 Administrators
- 1.5 Bureaucrats
New users of Munkapedia will be welcomed immediately and accepted warmly.
Welcome to 2016! As with all New Years, change is always inevitably around the corner. On the dawn of this year, Wikia plans to launch two NEW moderator groups tomorrow. These two groups have the potential to change how our site policy is written and how the Council of Chipmunks might function.
These groups, seen as "junior admin" positions, seek to lessen the burden of Admins and open up interest, training, and trust to users with a desire to one day take on the role of a full Admin. A similar position, entitled "Moderator", was created Wikia-wide about a year ago and these new positions are build off that original idea by encompassing a broader scope. These positions are as follows:
- This position seeks to maintain all areas i…
This blog has been long in the making considering the number of problems that are constantly in need of fixing in the "Relationships" section of the chipmunks' article pages. Despite this section considered undesirable in the past in favor of strictly using the shipping pages, this isn't possible for all relationships. This section can offer benefit to the article, in terms of the main chipmunk relationships, and the reader, if constructed properly.
As stated many times in edit summaries of the past, the focus of each subsection must be directed in a specific way. Why? Because every main character has identical, but variable, relationships (ie. Brittany and Simon and Simon and Brittany). If written generically (ie. in terms of both characte…
Hey guys! I wanted to go into detail about the importance of images, mostly the importance of naming and licensing images as stated within the wiki's image policy. I know most people's first reaction would be "Ugh, more pointless work." or "Why does it matter? Most people won't see it anyway." but I hope by the end of this blog the reasoning will help you understand just how important these practices are for the reader and the wiki.
- 1 Why Are Images Important?
- 2 Why Give Images Descriptive Names?
- 3 Image Descriptions
- 4 Concluding Remarks
Studies have show that articles with properly tagged images with descriptive naming tend to rank higher in search engines than pages without, leading to more readers viewing content. Images also add to the readabil…
All editors and readers: please give this blog a few moments of your time for input.
This discussion is in response to Layout Changes: Breakpoints and Typography. As a quick overview, this Wikia-wide update seeks to transition away from many different layouts of articles that changed based on the screen size you use (the previous fluid page design) to a few more similiar layouts that change based on breakpoints of screen sizes (or, simply size classes). The typography change included primarily an increase in font size given a larger screen size.
The purpose of this update is reduce content area for the largest screen sizes in order to reinforce the construction of articles that are appealing to smaller screen sizes by using more consistent la…
