Many templates are in use on Munkapedia, but these are the most important and commonly used ones.

• Category:Templates should list all templates in the wiki, categorized into the various subcategories.
• The Template namespace always has all templates in the wiki, sorted alphabetically.

What are templates?

Wiki templates provide a means to insert the same content over and over in different (or the same) pages. This saves editors the hassle of duplicating the same text again and again, and also helps ensure consistency.

Templates are generally shown with the format required to use the template (i.e. {{stub}}). Clicking the template name takes you to the template's page, where you can see what it looks like and how it is used.

Detailed instructions on the usage of each template should exist either on the template page, or the template's talk page.

Infobox Templates

Character Infoboxes

• Add this template to a main character article to create an information box. If a minor character has enough information know about them, this template should be used.

• Add this template to a minor character article to create an information box when little is known about the character.

Nominate an article for deletion

• Add this to an article to nominate it for deletion. It will add the article to Category:Candidates for deletion.

Stubs

• When a page has little or no useful information, then it is likely a stub. This template will include them in Category:Article stubs, and is used to list which articles need expanding.

Disambiguation articles

• If you have several articles that have similar or identical names, you may wish to create a "disambiguation" page at the main article name, with the articles taking an extra phrase in brackets afterwards. For example:

Alvin and the Chipmunks

Alvin and the Chipmunks (TV series), etc.

• Using {{disambig}} marks an article as a disambiguation page by adding a banner to the article and categorizing it under Category:Disambiguations. Add links to the various articles under the banner.

{{Disambiguation}}

• If you have two articles with similar or identical names, you can use this template to mark an article page to clarify the subject of the article and show what other articles the reader may be looking for.

General wiki templates

Columns

{{Col-2-MCL}}, {{Col-3-MCL}}, and {{Col-end-MCL}}

• Use these templates to create columns of information that dynamically change with the differences in a viewer's screen size. These templates are very useful in cases where there will be long columns and should be used for columns in articles within the main namespace.

{{Col-item-MCL}} and {{Col-item-end-MCL}}

• Use these templates within the other MCL (Multi-Column Layout) templates in cases when a section should reside in only one column and not be split among multiple columns.

{{Col-begin}}, {{Col-2}}, {{Col-3}}, and {{Col-end}}

• Use these templates to create columns of information. Best to use for small columns and non-main namespace pages due to the static nature of the columns.

• Use at the start of a section to link to the main article on it.

• Add this template to the end of a statement in need of a source.
