This is a Community Project for all Alvin and the Chipmunks merchandise, excluding books, comics and media, and is in part an extension off the plush toys project.
Everyone who wished to add to these standards or post input, please start discussions on this page's talk page.
Creation[]
NOTE: No new articles are being created at this time.
Part of the problem of the plush toys articles consisted of lack of verifiable conditions, along with lack of consistency and structure. These pages have been an eye-sore on the wiki for a while, though with additional standards here they should either be improved (and verified) or deleted. To avoid another disaster, merchandise article creation standards must be strict and followed.
- You must own the merchandise you wish to create an article about. Yes, this may seem a bit strict but it's to help ensure accuracy in page creation, similar to having a source to create an episode page. The physical item is the source, the most accurate source. It'll also help create an accurate and complete article.
- You must provide images/scans, preferably your own. Whatever the merchandise, it must have at least one clean image. If you can't get an image yourself and you own the item, an image online can be acceptable (not preferred) if it meets formatting standards.
Trust of the editor is important, as well as providing good faith that the edit is accurate. Nevertheless, one of the wiki's standards is peer-review. If the merchandise or its information can't be verified, don't create it or it will be deleted.
Ideally no new merchandise article should be left incomplete. Focus on completing an article before creating a new one.
Formatting[]
- All merchandise pages will use the Merchandise infobox.
- Whenever possible, scans should be the primary use (especially for anything paper). These typically provide the most consistent formatting.
- Images and scans need to be of a reasonably consistent resolution between like items/on a single article and be cropped appropriately.
- Photos must have a white or black background.
