Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel is based on the sequel in the Alvin and the Chipmunks CGI-live action series. The game was released on December 1, 2009 for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. Unlike the original video game, this one also features The Chipettes, who return in the film, and doesn't use instruments. The game is followed by the Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked video game.
