Synopsis

Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are ready for Christmas vacation! But when Alvin learns of a very sick boy who needs his help, mischief and musical mayhem take over. The Chipmunks are going to need more than a song to get them out of this holly jolly mess!

This book was dedicated to Ross Bagdasarian, Sr., the creator of the characters, by his son, Ross Bagdasarian, Jr.

This book is dedicated to my dad, the creator of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. My wife and I have carried on the Chipmunk tradition since he passed away, and we are delighted by this little book, which marries a prime-time story we wrote in the eighties with the style he was famous for in the sixties. This book embodies the marriage of our two Chipmunk generations, and I hope you enjoy it.

The little boy Alvin gave his harmonica to is named Winchester in this book, yet in the special the boy is named Tommy.
Two similar books were also released: A Chipmunk Christmas, previously released in 1985, and Alvin and the Chipmunks: A Chipmunk Christmas: With Sound and Music, later released in 2012.
