A Mother for The Chipmunks is an Alvin and the Chipmunks book based on the Alvin and the Chipmunks episode Mother's Day.
Synopsis[]
The Chipmunks look for a wife for Dave so that they will have someone to take to the Mother and Son Picnic.
Plot[]
The Chipmunks aren't looking forward to the weekend since it means the annual Mother and Son Picnic is taking place; Randy McTandy, a bully at school, doesn't help cheer up the boys with his mean teasing. They ponder what it would be like to have a mother, and when Simon concludes Dave'll have to get married tonight, the idea of finding a mother themselves pops into Alvin's head. Each sibling has different ideas for who their mother should be: Alvin wants a great athlete, Simon someone who's super smart, and Theodore the world's greatest cook. In order to be fair, the boys decide to invite them all over for Dave to pick from. Their first stop is the Museum of Natural History and Dr. Meg Fleming. Simon claims he learned all he knows about dinosaur bones from his father, Dr. David Seville, and that the two should meet tonight. Unfortunately for Simon, Theodore destroys another skeleton and the scientist must fix it. Their second stop is Crumm's Catering Shop. Theodore likewise claims he learned all he knows about cooking from his father, Chef Pierre Seville. Ms. Crumm suddenly remembers she has fifteen dozen popovers to make so the boys head out to find Alvin's choice at the Worldwide Gymnastic Competition. Alvin barely has time to talk with Dana Beame about his gold metal winning couch of a father before her couch runs him off. The Chipmunks sulk at home until the women they've chosen decide to show up, to the confusion of Dave. As Dave attempts to locate the boys, they begin to influence each other's pick: Alvin pretends he got into an "accident" because of a B+, Simon states he has to save enough money to buy Dave a new car before he can get glasses, and Theodore claims Dave locked him in the basement for dust. The women finally bump into each other, and when Dave returns to speak with the boys, he ends up with a cake in his face. The brothers explain to Dave and realize he makes a great "mother" so they take him to the picnic.
