This article from moviehole.net implies that Disney are interested in producing a Chipmunks movie. I am so excited about this possibility. Imagine the Chipmunks as a large scale Disney Musical; moviehole.net/five-franchises-returning-once-disney-take-over-fox
The Disney/Fox deal has only just been finalized, so let's give it a few months and see what happens. I like the Fox films but I also feel like they made a lot of missteps as well. I feel like the general public outside of the fandom see them as a big joke nowadays, and I think that if Disney could do their own take, they could bring a lot of their dignity back.
I agree that Disney would just throw character integrity and consistency in the garbage. Those were halfway in the garbage for the last 2 films, which were made after Disney's aquisition of Fox.
I just don't want my heart broken again, or anyone's, by the project.
In addition, there's the issue of Disney literally acquiring every studio they work with, and it's not even in Ross and Janice's best interest to be bought out. They are so used to being involved, that it may end up like George Lucas. Not to mention the eternal shame any work under that would bring to the fandom.
Disney's acquisition of Fox was only finalized in March this year. Disney have never made anything Chipmunks. They value nostalgia, and I really doubt they'd disappoint. Ross and Janice don't even need to be bought out. If a movie like this was to happen, all it would take is to get Ross and Janice involved on good terms with no rights issues. They could offer them creative freedom (something they didn't have on the Fox films), and allow them to voice their own characters and it should be fine.
I dont feel Disney will do them justice. Disney cares about cash and being biggest on the block. The Fox movies were great until the 4th. Id rather they keep using the current actors to voice them. Matthew Gray Gubler (however you spell his name) is a perfect match for Simon.
Disney recently bought 21st century Fox, the films were made by 20th century Fox, which was already acquired.
Most of Fox Entertainment, including 20th century Fox, was acquired by Disney around 2008. 21st century Fox was not included in the 2008 acquisition.
yep. bad news all around. and they changed animation studios for the 4th movie resulting in it looking like garbage
Agreed. The animation in the 4 the film was crap, and almost everything else in it.
20th Century Fox was bought when the second film was nearly finished or finished with the production stage, so it's possible that Disney had more direct involvement in the company after the third film went into post production, although the third film could have had subtle script influences for the same film.
Disney also has a tendency to buy up everyone they collaborate with, and can do so quite easily. In addition, they tend to throw integrity in the garbage (even in their original work) and exclude the original owners from any creative work. Disney has a long and stories history of bullying creators into submitting to the company's will, even while the namesake was still managing the company.
If BP worked with Disney directly, the result would be crappier than the 4th film and risk the integrity of the characters being tarnished for an indefinite period of time, possibly longer than a lifetime.
I agree 100% The fourth movie Alvin didnt look like himself or even slightly alive. Just like a stuffed animal and a badly rendered one at that, Yet everyone I talk to say the 4th had the best animation. I think the 3rd did
I agree that the overall movement was very stiff and constrained on the character models, the other three films didn't really differ in most respects for animation. The character consistency sucked, there are too many bad things about the 4th film, mostly visual effects and character related.
To Disney will be created. But must argue with BP about bringing the chipmunks to create CGI movies. Until the migraine ascends the brain.
What do you think?
